Carlos Corberán will face the media 90 days after his last appearance, fronting Valencia CF before the league opener after a prolonged institutional silence. According to Superdeporte, he returns with several awkward subjects to address.
First, his renewal. The club extended his deal to 2028 on six July via statement, with no press conference. It will be his first chance to explain the decision, his outlook at Mestalla and the merits he believes support his continuation.
Then, the target. Last season it was taboo yet dominated briefings. He will be asked if he endorses players’ calls to fight for Europe or keeps a low profile, with the club offering only private guidance and no public stance this summer.
Next, the market. Valencia still have needs, especially out wide. He must set out his view on business so far and what could happen in the 12 days left, with the squad yet to take the required step up in quality.
Arnaut Danjuma’s possible exit is another point. He may be pressed on the role planned for the Dutchman and the profile he would seek if a move to the Eredivisie materialises.
Finally, the academy. Sales of Yarek Gasiorowski and Cristhian Mosquera have helped, but promotions have slowed since Corberán arrived. He is presumed to prefer Jesús Vázquez on his opposite flank to an academy wing-back, so plans for the youngsters will be sought.
