Valencia sign Pablo Maffeo on loan with option to buy from Olympiacos | OneFootball

Valencia have addressed their right-back need by signing Pablo Maffeo on loan from Olympiacos, with an option to buy of around three million euros to be considered later this season.

According to La Colina De Nervion, the 29-year-old completed his medical on Thursday then reported to Paterna after the loan was sealed.

The structure limits financial risk, Carlos Corberán gets an immediate option at right-back, while the club delays any permanent outlay until they have assessed his impact.

Maffeo had only just switched clubs, Mallorca sold him to Olympiacos on 19 June for around 2.5 million euros, signing through 2029, and now he returns to Spain on a temporary deal agreed with the Greek side.

His track record is established, 211 La Liga appearances across Girona, Huesca and Mallorca. With Mallorca since 2021 he played 160 competitive games, scoring five goals and providing 15 assists, before moving to Greece this summer.

After tests he trained alone at Paterna and met Corberán. On arrival he said his aim is to stay if circumstances allow, a prospect baked into the loan and option arrangement.

Valencia host Celta de Vigo on Saturday 22 August at Mestalla. Maffeo has made himself available, although selection rests with Corberán given his limited time with the squad. Any purchase would depend on his form and the club’s readiness to complete the investment in 2027.
