Corinthians begin their push for a Copa Libertadores quarter-final place on Thursday night, away to Rosario Central at the Estadio Gigante de Arroyito at 21:30. Former striker Carlos Tévez has warned of a fierce atmosphere.

I know Garro well, I have spoken with him, and I think he is doing very well. He knows Rosario Central well, and it is up to him to explain to those around him what that stadium is like," said Tévez.

Rodrigo Garro came through Newell’s Old Boys’ academy, the city rivals of Rosario Central. Corinthians completed their final session for the tie at Newell’s training centre on Wednesday.

Tévez’s brief stay at Corinthians was impactful, including 46 goals and the 2005 Brazilian title across 78 appearances. Now 42, he is a coach and has been out of work since May after leaving Talleres.

The second leg is on 20 August in Itaquera at 21:30. If the aggregate score is level, penalties will decide the winner.
