Michael Carrick says a final decision on his future should be confirmed within “a few days”.
Carrick is expected to stay on as United boss, having taken over earlier this season on a short-term basis until the end of this season.
“I’m a supporter as well so regardless of anything I want there to be a lot of good moments,” Carrick said after his side’s 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest.
“I think it’s been pretty clear from what I said a couple of days ago really, it’s the same. Over the coming days there will be clarity over the situation.
“I think today was important for the game and getting the right result and some individuals shining today. Whatever the news is going to be, I’m sure you’ll get it in a few days.”

United’s latest win means they are guaranteed to finish third in the Premier League this season, and asked what the club need to do to keep improving, he said: “I do genuinely think it was a really fantastic achievement to be where we are at the moment. The players deserve a lot of credit for that.
“We just want to keep improving. I said it the other day, when you get nearer to the top of the league, the harder it gets and you’ve got to make big steps but it’s harder to make those big steps.
“Certainly evolving the group is one thing for sure. That’s no negative on the group as it is now, I think you just want to keep pushing forward.
“We’ve got a really good group of players we want to keep improving and getting better. That’s additions, and some of the young players will be better next season for the experience.
“We just want to keep moving forward. There’s not a magic ingredient to do that, it’s just hard work, a bit of brains and intelligence and good players as well.”
