Play-off fever has taken hold in Castelló two days before the first leg of the opening promotion tie against Almería. According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the city is gripped by nerves, excitement and hope, and CD Castellón’s support is largely optimistic.
The paper canvassed fans and most backed promotion this year. Rosa María, Ana and Raúl Adrián, Juan Manuel Viso and Cristian expressed firm belief, while Ricardo Soler struck a more guarded note, saying the team have chances but that a play-off also demands a slice of luck at key moments.
Confidence is widespread. Guillermo Lacomba even outlined the path, predicting victory over Almería and in the final round. Carmen Rivera and Clara Fortea shared that conviction, and David Sastre called promotion something that has to happen and would be historic.
Among current favourites, Cristian highlighted Cala for his passing, seeing the playmaker as pivotal to Pablo’s attacking set-up.
Fans already have celebration plans if the step up is achieved. Rosa María plans to head to the fountain with the crowds, and Sastre imagines a party by the stadium with the whole fanbase. Soler hopes to savour it with his son and friends, noting that both father and son are members.
Viso has even made a promise, if Castellón go up he will ask his friend Néstor to shave his head completely.
