Castellón will be without Brian Cipenga and Awer Mabil for the promotion play-off against Almería, with both named in World Cup squads for DR Congo and Australia.
According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, Pablo Hernández cannot call on either winger for the semi-final, nor for the final if reached, which would bring a meeting with the winner of Las Palmas against Málaga.
Cipenga has been the side’s leading creator, delivering nine assists, and he has scored six goals to sit third in their scoring charts. His contract expires on 30 June, after which he becomes a free agent.
For Castellón Mabil has three goals and six assists this season and has featured in about 30 matches, the same as Cipenga, but with fewer minutes, 1,721 to 2,249.
There is also concern over Jérémy Mellot, who has missed the last two games with a muscle injury. He has been a key performer throughout the campaign and a regular under Hernández.
