Fondo 1922 has called on supporters to give CD Castellón a send-off today at 15.45 by the access gate of the Ciudad Deportiva Globeenergy in La Coma de Borriol, before the squad travels to Huesca.
El Periódico Mediterráneo reports that Pablo Hernández’s side have trained all week at the club’s new complex under construction on the site, with motivation heightened in recent days.
Nearby restaurant La Coma Corner has hung a striking banner telling the players this is not Anfield but that they will never walk alone, adding that they are albinegres from Castelló.
Optimism has rebuilt during the week after last Friday’s stumble against Cádiz at the SkyFi Castalia. Castellón still control their route to a Primera División play-off, a stage they have not reached since 1990/91.
Black and white flags have appeared across the city, with a building on Calle Herrero agreeing to display a giant banner featuring the club’s historic crests.
Attention now turns to Sunday’s 18.30 kick-off at El Alcoraz, where there will be a sizeable travelling contingent, which could have been larger if the home club, which is fighting to stay up and has a limited capacity, had ceded more tickets.
Castellón fans snapped up the 189 away tickets in about 20 minutes. As some home season-ticket holders have released seats, a number of orellut supporters have since sourced extra tickets, so the team will not be alone in Huesca.
