CD Castellón reset on Friday in Zubieta, starting a third straight LaLiga Hypermotion season with a refreshed yet unfinished squad. According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the window stays open until 1 September and provisional numbers reflect work still under way.
The club have made 11 summer additions: Amir Saipi, Juanjo Nieto, Ilias Kostis, Rodrigo Rêgo on loan from Brighton, Jari Vlak, Álvaro Martín, Fran Castillo, Antonio Gala, Iñigo Córdoba, Hamza Bellari and David Nzanza. Sergi Torner has renewed to 2028 and steps up to the first team.
Key contributors have gone. Álex Calatrava joined Espanyol, 15 goals and eight assists, Cipenga left for Almería after six goals and nine assists, Beñet Gerenabarrena returned to Athletic Club after 39 appearances, and Awer Mabil moved to Australia.
A core remains, including Sienra 4, Alberto 5, Doué 6, Barri 8, Camara 9, Suero 10 and Douglas 11, with Álvaro García continuing at 23.
Squad-number shifts mark the transition. José Albert, back from Ibiza and renewed to 2027, takes 15, Adam Jakobsen moves to 16, and new signing Álvaro Martín gets 21. Raúl Sánchez switches to 7 with his old 14 to Iñigo Córdoba, Tincho to 20 with 2 for Juanjo Nieto, and Saipi 1, Fran Castillo 17, Vlak 25.
The allocation is provisional. Numbers 3 and 24 remain free, with Torner, Gala, Rêgo, Nzanza and Kostis unassigned. The 3 hinges on Fabrizio Brignani, last season’s holder, who suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury to his right knee in July.
