The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) and the Pró-Rim Foundation will join forces in the 27th round of the Brasileirão Série A for an awareness campaign on the importance of organ donation. Under the theme “A Yes for Life,” the initiative will be present at all ten matches of the round, which begins this Friday (11) and ends on Monday (14).

Created by Pró-Rim for Green September, the national month dedicated to raising awareness about organ donation, the campaign is reaching stadiums and major broadcasters, with coverage extending across the country. At this time, 49,519 people are waiting for an organ transplant in Brazil, according to the Data Panel of the National Transplant System of the Ministry of Health (data checked on August 27, 2026).

“We want to make CBF a modern institution that is attentive to causes that help transform lives beyond sport. With the power of football, we will be able to amplify this message, mobilize millions of Brazilians around organ donation, and help change the reality of nearly 50,000 people waiting for a transplant,” said CBF president Samir Xaud.

For Pró-Rim Foundation president Maycon Truppel Machado, the strength of the partnership lies in turning the stands into a conversation at home.

"Football has the power to bring this conversation into millions of homes over the same weekend. An informed yes, shared with the family, can mean continuity for many lives," he said.

Of the total number of people on the waiting list, 45,907 are waiting for a kidney, the Pró-Rim Foundation’s area of expertise. The list also includes 2,424 people awaiting a liver, 513 a heart, 368 a pancreas-kidney transplant, 270 a lung, 30 a pancreas, and seven a multivisceral transplant. While they wait for a spot, patients with chronic kidney disease maintain a routine of dialysis, tests, and continuous medical follow-up, part of the daily care provided by the Foundation at its units in Santa Catarina and Tocantins.

The round features high-profile matchups such as Flamengo vs. Corinthians at the Maracanã and Palmeiras vs. São Paulo at Nubank Parque, as well as Grêmio vs. Vasco and Atlético-MG vs. Fluminense, which should broaden the message’s reach to fans across the country. In Santa Catarina, the state where Pró-Rim was founded, the campaign will also take the field in the match between Chapecoense and Internacional at Arena Condá, in Chapecó.

In Brazil, authorization for organ donation after brain death depends on the family’s consent; for this reason, the campaign reinforces the importance of talking about the subject before any emergency situation arises.

According to the Brazilian Association of Organ Transplantation (ABTO), a single deceased donor can benefit more than eight people through the donation of the heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, pancreas, and tissues such as corneas, skin, bones, and heart valves. The distribution of available organs follows technical criteria defined by the National Transplant System, such as compatibility, clinical severity, and waiting time.

A benchmark in kidney care, the Pró-Rim Foundation has already carried out 2,147 kidney transplants in partnership with São José Municipal Hospital in Joinville, Santa Catarina, and recorded 73,200 hemodialysis sessions in the first seven months of 2026 at its units in Santa Catarina and Tocantins.
