CD Castellón appoint Simon Rusk as assistant coach | OneFootball

CD Castellón have appointed Simon Rusk as assistant coach to Pablo Hernández.

El Periódico Mediterráneo reports that the Englishman will serve as assistant coach, bringing extensive experience across youth development and the professional game.

Born on 17 December 1981 in Peterborough, Rusk played as a midfielder for several English clubs before moving into coaching with a focus on nurturing young players.

He worked at Brighton & Hove Albion, rising to lead the under-23s, and was involved in the development of Viktor Gyökeres, Robert Sánchez and Ben White, while also contributing to the first-team set up.

Rusk then took his first senior job at Stockport County, later coaching England under-19s before joining the senior national team for Qatar 2022 as an opposition analyst.

In recent seasons he has held roles at Nottingham Forest and Southampton, coaching the latter’s B team and taking interim charge of the Premier League first team in 2025.

Holder of a UEFA Pro Licence, his track record covers youth development, opposition analysis and team preparation.
