Football returns to Castalia on Sunday as Castellón host Sabadell at 19.00, with pre-match tributes to frame the home opener.
El Periódico Mediterráneo reports that the date has stood out since the calendar was confirmed, in Castellón’s third successive season in the second tier. After a winning start away to Real Sociedad B, it is their first home game since the play-off with UD Almería more than two months ago.
The summer works include a new UCO, the Operational Coordination Unit, installed in Preferencia Alta by the Gol Norte corner to meet LaLiga safety rules. With extra cameras and a dedicated security room, authorities can oversee events before, during and after matches, and the away section has moved to Gol Norte Alto nearest Preferencia, where Sabadell fans will sit.
Some season-ticket holders have been reallocated. In Gol Sur Alto, new media desks now sit by the Tribuna Alta corner and the former press area becomes VIP boxes.
Further changes out of public view cover the gym, physiotherapy and water areas, dressing rooms and an expanded office for Pablo Hernández’s staff, plus a larger press room.
Due to bureaucratic delays, the adjacent zone remains under municipal ownership, so the fan zone will not be operational yet and is still months away. Nearby hospitality is expected to pick up the matchday buzz.
Castellón will honour Luis Cela before kick-off. A minute’s silence will also remember season-ticket holders who died last season, with the captain presenting a floral tribute to the stand.
