CD Castellón have paused training this week, with attention on the fitness of Jakobsen ahead of their next league fixture.

According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the albinegros will not return to work until Thursday, with their next game set for Monday at 21.30 at Balaídos against Celta Fortuna.

The Danish forward had been in line to start against CE Sabadell last weekend but was ruled out after feeling a muscle twinge in the warm-up, so he played no part.

His progress over the coming days will determine whether he rejoins group training and is available for Pablo Hernández. The extra preparation time allows the club to manage the situation carefully at the start of a long season.

Readers of the newspaper named Jeremy Mellot Castellón’s best performer in the draw with Sabadell. The French defender earned 42% of the online vote after stepping in at centre-back and delivering a composed display in a back line that kept a clean sheet.

Israel Suero finished second on 21%, with Alberto Jiménez third on 11% after another firm showing in central defence.

Next opponents Celta Fortuna staged a 4-2 comeback against Andorra in the second matchday after trailing 0-2, and they head into Monday’s meeting unbeaten after two matches.
