Valencia and Celta de Vigo remain apart over André Almeida’s fee, with talks stalling despite hopes they might accelerate after the sides met at Mestalla on Saturday.

Valencia want to match or better the three point five million euros agreed with Swansea, a deal the midfielder halted to prioritise Celta. According to Faro de Vigo, Celta are pushing to pay significantly less and could lean on academy options if the price stays high.

Celta created room by parting with Uruguayan midfielder Matías Vecino, yet talks since the weekend have found no common ground. Positions could soften as the window closes on Tuesday one September at 23:59.

Valencia are not minded to drop below the Swansea benchmark and the club needs cash with a week left. Recruitment in attack is ongoing beyond Largie Ramazani, and Leeds maintain they want a permanent transfer for the winger.

Celta have played down any urgency, with Stefan Bajcetic, the Liverpool midfielder who developed at A Madroa, close to a return that would initially bolster the B team after months out injured.

Even so, Celta’s interest in Almeida remains active and further attempts are expected. The club and player have a verbal agreement, and the wishes of Carlos Corberán and Claudio Giráldez point to differences being smoothed out in the coming days.
