CD Castellón have sold Kenneth Mamah to Türkiye side Vanspor FK on a busy Tuesday for the club.
According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the exits, alongside Óscar Gil’s move to Real Murcia and the loan of Nick Markanich to Houston Dynamo FC in MLS earlier in the day, free salary room for reinforcements, with a return for Raúl Sánchez the closest at this stage.
The Nigerian, 27, was influential early last season under Dick Schreuder until injury checked his momentum. He scored four goals in 24 matches. This term he has 14 appearances and one goal, which sealed victory away to Cultural Leonesa.
A versatile option at wing-back, on the wing or as a No 10, he returns to Turkish football. His route has been unconventional, forged from amateur football in Nigeria and a restart from the bottom in Italy.
He progressed from Lucera Calcio in the seventh tier to Città di Varese in Serie D, then to Goztepe in Türkiye’s second division, earning promotion while recovering from two serious injuries. He was popular in the dressing room for his work rate and character.
