CD Castellón remain in control of a top-six finish and have set the target of winning their final two league games to reach the promotion play-offs, but will be without Jeremy Mellot.
The right-back suffered a right hamstring injury during the Cádiz match and, barring a miracle, will miss the rest of the league campaign. The club said in a statement that a return could only come in a possible play-off, depending on how the injury evolves.
In his first season at Castellón, the 32-year-old has dominated the right side of defence, starting whenever available. With no specialist right-back in the senior squad, options have included B-team defender Ismael Fadel ahead of Charbel or Willmann, wing-back Raúl Sánchez, captain Salva Ruiz on his weaker side, and more recently midfielder Beñat Gerenabarrena. It remains to be seen what solution Pablo Hernández chooses at Huesca.
Mellot arrived at SkyFi Castalia last summer from CD Tenerife and has made 36 league appearances with strong defensive output. He has also been sent off three times, all in the second half of the season.
The final-day schedule has been set, with Castellón to host SD Eibar on Sunday 31 May at 18.30, with all decisive games at the same time. The penultimate round brings a Sunday 18.30 visit to SD Huesca.
