Cebolinha will not face his former club at Vila Belmiro on Thursday, a condition tied to his Flamengo exit.
According to Coluna Do Fla, Flamengo insisted on the clause when terminating the winger’s contract to allow his move to Santos.
The Brasileirão match kicks off at 19:30 Brasília time and is Flamengo’s first outing after the FIFA window that ends on Tuesday the sixth.
By late 2025 he had made clear he did not wish to renew. Used sparingly, his deal running to the end of 2026 was cut short, with the sole stipulation that he could not play against Flamengo.
He is contracted to Santos until the end of this year, with an option to extend by a further two years if both parties want to continue. In that case, the restriction could cease to apply.
Wearing number seven, he was involved in the goal in the win over São Paulo on Friday the second. Alongside Rodinei, he is among several ex-Flamengo figures now at Santos.
Signed in 2022, Cebolinha made 193 appearances for Flamengo, scoring 21 and providing 26 assists, and featured 12 times in the 2026 Brasileirão before departing.
After he left, the number 11 shirt became vacant and Lucas Paquetá took it. The midfielder had worn 20 and previously used 11 in his first spell, arriving at the start of this year.
Santos also include Willian Arão and Gabigol, with Rodinei and the two forwards having played together at Flamengo recently.
