On a rain-slick night, Celta mixed promise with mistakes, their slips and imprecision punished despite early threat.
AS notes a treacherous surface shaped the contest, with numerous half-chances going begging and key duels turned by fine margins.
Jones burst clear in the opening move, then Bryan Zaragoza squandered a first-minute chance, later denied again with Remiro and defenders blocking further efforts.
Real Sociedad struck first when Ilaix slipped in the build-up and Oyarzabal finished. Carreira tried from range and the rebound fell for Borja Iglesias to level at 1-1.
Manu Fer was caught by a wild Caleta-Car challenge, the Croatian was sent off and the full-back had to be withdrawn injured. With a man advantage, Durán struggled to find space and Hugo Álvarez dragged the 1-2 wide.
A risky ball from Mingueza into Sotelo preceded a costly turnover, Oyarzabal pounced again for 2-1. Marcos Alonso then conceded a penalty after Odriozola broke in behind, Brais converted beyond Radu.
Radu’s first save arrived on 90 minutes, palming away Oskarsson’s header. Earlier, Aspas slipped Swedberg through but the forward could not finish, and Román drove Celta on late.
