Celta Vigo star to miss 4-6 weeks through injury | OneFootball

La Liga outfit Celta Vigo will be forced to make do without the services of a leading member of the club’s midfield ranks for the weeks ahead.

This comes amid confirmation that Miguel Román is set to undergo imminent surgery.

Midfielder Román for his part sparked widespread concern in Vigo earlier this week. After it was revealed that the 23-year-old had suffered an injury setback during training, murmurs spread that Román could be sidelined for the remainder of the campaign.

Tests carried out at Celta’s base on Tuesday confirmed that this would not be the case, but that the Spaniard nevertheless requires surgical intervention.

Román, as a result, has been pencilled in to miss ‘between four and six weeks’. As per a statement across the Celestes’ social media platforms:

‘The light blue midfielder has a free joint body that is not right, as confirmed by medical tests carried out after discomfort suffered during training.

‘The player will undergo arthroscopy in the next few days for his extraction, an intervention that will be carried out by Dr. Juan José García Cota.

‘In the absence of complications, a sick leave period of between 4 and 6 weeks is estimated.’
