Lennoxtown has been the training base for the Celtic first team since 2007 and the recent developments which have been completed have further enhanced the facility.

The club confirm that after 18 months of work and significant investment in the facility, this latest phase of work delivers some great new benefits and the cumulative work in recent seasons at the training centre now sees the implementation of a state-of-the-art gym, new medical facilities, upgraded changing room facilities and a new amphitheatre for first team analysis, all of which will help our players in their pursuit of success.

Talking about the now completed improvements at Lennoxtown, Celtic captain Callum McGregor said: “There was a period of redevelopment in terms of what we could do with the space and how we could modernise it. The guys behind the scenes have done a really good job and now the next part of it is done. It’s improving all the time and something that we need to continue to do is keep pushing to have the best facilities we can.”

Celtic’s assistant manager Shaun Maloney added: “You see our schedule now and every two or three days we’re preparing for a game or recovering, so this facility now has everything you need.

“In terms of developing players through our academy and players that we bring in, we have everything now to make that happen.”

Lennoxtown  is also home to the club’s B team, and first team coach Stephen McManus, who previously managed the Celtic B side, says that the Lennoxtown upgrades will help the Academy as well as the first team.

Stephen McManus said: “When I first came up with the reserves six years ago, it was important that the first team and the reserves were aligned and that has continued to this day. With the new offices here for the B team staff, you’re utilising the space. It’s a tremendous facility.”

The improvements at Lennoxtown follow on from the redevelopment of the Barrowfield facility, which is now the state-of-the-art home for our Women’s team and Academy sides. As the club continues to develop its facilities, the Club will also be continuing to look at further areas of potential work across Celtic Park across the summer.

Here’s the video released by the club to highlight the new improvements over at Lennoxtown.

Celtic also posted this on their social media accounts including on X, and the comments are worth dipping into. It’s worth noting that the three Celtic folk talking today about the new work being competed at Lennoxtown did NOT include the CEO Michael Nicholson, nor the interim Chairman Brian Wilson or even the Chief Financial Officer Chris McKay.  That seems very strange indeed.  A small selection of the fans comments are shown below.

“Make a call on the Green Brigade, can’t hide forever.”

“Any chance of a state-of-the-art CEO and CFO?”

“Are players still out in the freezing cold windy rain sleet and snow?”

“Full size indoor pitch needed. Rename it the Tommy Burns training centre.”

“Is there an area where the players can practice taking corners?”

“Whoop di do! Why not charge the punters £40 a skull to see it. Maybe the GB will go sing you all a wee song. Or are they banned from there too?”

“Get everyone in for these last games to win this league championship! The ban is getting beyond it now, considering there’s been no serious offence committed it’s looking to everyone as if it’s just badness and spite!”

“Announce phase 1 of making Michael Nicholson unemployed.”

“World class facilities should have a competent board and a quality team using them, one out of three well done the current board.”

“So whilst other fans are getting strategic updates from their chairmen about goals, aims and transfer strategy, we get how delighted you lot are that some building work got done. Read the room for once.”

“Can we score goals, get corners past the first defender and defend crosses now?”

“That’s good. More investment in the club please. Main stand is ageing. Knock down the superstore and make the area a proper supporters and hospitality area.”

“Spent more money on our training facilities than we did transfers.”

“Try announcing a manager, director of football, ceo, chairman head of recruitment and whole new squad.”

“Elite, modern, top level, world class… Gerry getting in all the buzz words to keep the board happy. How about highlighting how poor the squad is and how we have an outdated boardroom?”

“Clearly the training ground has been closed for months for this work.”

And on it goes. Have a look for yourselves…
