Green Brigade’s update as suspension approaches 30 games | OneFootball

The Green Brigade has issued a detailed update this evening as their ban from Celtic Park approaches 30 games, which is set to be reached when Celtic take on Motherwell at Celtic Park next weekend….

There are always two sides to a story but it has to be said this latest summary from the Ultras group is particularly damning for those running our football club, in particular Michael Nicholson.

There is no doubt an incident happened last August at the Premier Sports Cup match against Falkirk, probably caused by the security changes that affected all supporters in the three stands built by Fergus McCann in the mid 1990s.

Nicholson was absent today when Celtic unveiled the completion of the improvements made at Lennoxtown, leaving the work to Shaun Maloney who already takes the first team training and is apparently in charge of the summer recruitment too. In a job that was clearly the CEO’s Michael Nicholson was nowhere to be seen.

Michael Nicholson was once again a no show

At the recent meeting with the Celtic Fans Collective, Michael Nicholson was once again a no show, leaving what turned out to be a buying time/ time wasting exercise to interim Chairman Brian Wilson who’s distain for the Celtic supporters at the meeting was obvious.

Michael Nicholson’s tenure as the Celtic CEO will surely come to an end in the summer and he will be remembered for the following:

1. Failure to signing a striker – our top scoring striker this season has scored THREE goals, that’s 13 months after he sold Kyogo for £10m.

2. His petty dispute alongside his old school chum with the Green Brigade which has seen 250 Celtic supporters of all ages – some pensioners – banned for 29, soon to be 30 matches from Celtic Park.

3. Appointing Wilfried Nancy to manage Celtic after a boardroom removal of Brendan Rodgers for daring to point out that new signings were required.

4. Banning the Celtic fan media to avoid awkward questions.

5. Failed transfer window after failed transfer window, the latest in January after promises were made after his horror summer window.

A wake up call for the club

This is all totally unsatisfactory and only Martin O’Neill’s outstanding efforts have prevented an all out revolt. Today at his media conference Martin O’Neill talked about the emergence of Hearts and the ambition from the Rangers in the transfer market as a wake up call for the club.

The man Dermot Desmond had to call not once but twice to save our season is now acknowledging that you’ve been asleep at the wheel Michael. He didn’t however accused you of talking in your sleep. Even he knows you don’t do talking.

Celtic Fans Collective react

Tonight the Celtic Fans Collective reacted to the update from Green Brigade. They stated: “While it remains deeply disappointing that this ban is ongoing, news of Monday’s meeting is encouraging. This can’t be another discussion with fans that ultimately achieves nothing. We need a positive outcome – and a full, vociferous Celtic Park for the remainder of the season.”

Get the Green Brigade back in for next weekend. We have a title to win. We will see the Rangers working with their supporters to provide maximum advantage for them on Sunday. Yet Celtic refuse to communicate, fail to compromise and totally fail to appreciate the dire consequences of their actions as Celtic’s chances of retaining our title hangs on their own stubbornness.

The job isn’t for you Michael. You know it and so does the Celtic support. Go to UEFA and deal with their red tape and legal matters but as a Celtic CEO you are unqualified, uncommunicative and frankly hopeless. But you are a Celtic man, that is undeniable. So act like one, be pragmatic. Put the differences to the side until the summer and let’s all together get this league won.
