If both bosses get wins then Celtic will be top of the league on Sunday evening. That’s the target and first to deliver is Martin O’Neill who has certainly not let us down since arriving ahead of the Falkirk game at the end of October and a win this evening will means he leaves with a 100% win record in domestic football.

Dundee got a rare victory over Celtic at Dens Park before Hearts came out on top at Tynecastle a week later as the Brendan Rodgers era edged to an acrimonious conclusion which was made ten times worse by the unnecessary self-important statement by Dermot Desmond on the official Celtic FC website.

It wouldn’t be the last time he embarrassed himself as his statement read out at the club’s AGM two weeks ago was disgraceful, attacking the Celtic support who year after year pour their hard earned cash into the football club. For instance during the COVID season the Celtic season ticket holders all renewed their tickets for a season when it was known that there would be no chance of attending games.

Did Manchester United fans do this Dermot? Maybe Liverpool supporters of the season ticket holders at any of the other Premier League clubs? The answer is no and had Celtic supporters – not the billionaire with the big mouth – failed to support the club in it’s hour of need – then that £70m in the bank would be sitting at a significantly lower level. You meanwhile Dermot, have taken £7.6m out in dividends according to the article in The Times that was published yesterday.

Martin O’Neill yesterday was asked if there would be any changes from the team from the weekend in the 2-1 win away at Hibs. Here’s his response: “Well, we’ll have a look now. Kieran Tierney’s foot, or his toe, is getting better. He got the toenail removed, which was pretty sore for him. But he did get an injection. And each day it’s getting a bit better. And, yes, with the players that we have, obviously, the long-term injuries are still there. And that’s not going to change for the next couple of months. But, yes, we’re going as strongly as we can.”

Kasper Schmeichel will be in goals behind a back four of Colby Donovan, Auston Trusty, Liam Scales and Marcelo Saracchi. In the middle of the park Celtic will have our captain Callum McGregor alongside the two back to their best midfielders Arne Engels and Reo Hatate. Luke McCowan will play against his former club on the right had side of the Celtic attack, Daizen Maeda will be the striker and Yang will be on the left wing. So same again from the team at Easter Road at the weekend.

On the Celtic bench this evening we expect to see Sinisalo, Murray, Ralston, Tierney, Nygren, Bernardo, Balikwisha, Kenny, Inheanacho and Tounekti.

No idea when James Forrest will be back in the team but it doesn’t appear to be a long term problem, unlike with Jota, Carter-Vickers, Johnston and Osmand.

Predicted Score

Celtic will be strong favourite and as Steven Pressley has pointed out Dundee hasn’t won at Celtic Park for 25 years. The Celtic team will want to send Martin O’Neill off in one style and will also be eager to impress the new manager Wilfried Nancy who may even be in the main stand tonight. Can’t see anything other than a decent Celtic win, maybe 4-0 or even more. Best bet would be giving Dundee three of a start to get a decent return.
