The Champions League league phase draw will take place on Thursday 27 August at 18:00 at UEFA headquarters in Switzerland. According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the event will determine each club’s eight opponents.
The 36 teams will be split into four pots based on recent European and domestic results, with seedings confirmed on the morning of the draw. It will be shown on Movistar Liga de Campeones.
The league phase begins on 8 September. Madrid’s Metropolitano Stadium will host the 2026-27 final. Paris Saint-Germain, coached by Luis Enrique, retained the title last season.
Matchdays fall on 8 to 10 September, 13 to 14 and 20 to 21 October, 3 to 4 and 24 to 25 November, and 8 to 9 December 2026, then 19 to 20 and 27 January 2027.
The play-offs are on 16 to 17 and 23 to 24 February 2027, the round of 16 on 9 to 10 and 16 to 17 March, quarter-finals on 6 to 7 and 13 to 14 April, and semi-finals on 27 to 28 April and 4 to 5 May. The final is on 5 June 2027.
So far 29 clubs have qualified directly via last season’s leagues, with seven more to come through qualifying rounds that finish before the draw. England: Aston Villa, Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool. Spain: Barcelona, Real Madrid, Villarreal, Atlético de Madrid, Real Betis. Italy: Inter, Napoli, Roma, Como. Germany: Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Leipzig, Stuttgart. France: Paris Saint-Germain, Lens, Lille. Netherlands: PSV Eindhoven, Feyenoord.
