Manchester United and Brighton ‘close to agreeing’ Carlos Baleba transfer | OneFootball

The Athletic reports that Manchester United and Brighton are close to agreeing a deal for Carlos Baleba. The Cameroon midfielder could move for up to 70 million euros.

The 22-year-old, capped 16 times, would add to a midfield already strengthened by the arrivals of Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa and Andrey Santos from Chelsea.

Baleba joined Brighton in 2023 from Lille for about 27 million euros after only 21 Ligue 1 appearances. He has played 112 matches for the club across three seasons.

If the transfer is completed, he could make his Champions League debut with Manchester United, who are back in the competition after a two-year absence.

The report added that a cruciate ligament alert in early August is not considered concerning and is not expected to jeopardise the move.
