Lobato’s contract extension was announced first. Lobato joined Charlton Athletic from Olympique de Marseille last summer. She made 15 appearances in Barclays WSL2 last season in which she scored one goal.

News of Fitzgerald’s new deal soon followed. She also joined The Addicks last summer after leaving London City Lionesses. Fitzgerald played in every league fixture for the South East Londoners, scoring five goals.

After commiting her future to Charlton Athletic for 2026/2027, Lobato said “I’m very, very excited. I think this is what dreams are made of. When you’re young and thinking ‘how far will I go in football?’ and now playing, in my opinion, the best league in the world is amazing.

“It’s immensely validating that the club want to continue with me. It brings me a genuine sense of warmth, and I really appreciate that, and I’m grateful for the trust and the opportunity.”

Fitzgerald then said “I think last season we had such a good season. I really enjoyed myself. I just loved the environment, I loved the team, I loved everyone I worked with, and it was quite a simple decision to stay. I loved it, so why not continue?”

Further Charlton Athletic squad news will be announced in due course.
