According to transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano, the Blues will pay around £40 million for the versatile 18-year-old if all add-ons are met.

He cost Atalanta £18.8m last summer. His boyhood club Genoa have a five percent sell-on clause, ensuring that they will receive a small part of any fee paid by Chelsea.

Ahanor will sign for Chelsea after just one season at Atalanta. He joined them from Genoa last summer and made 35 appearances across all competitions.

He also earned his first senior caps for Italy in a pair of friendly matches against Greece and Luxembourg in June.

Chelsea identified Ahanor as a top prospect and have moved quickly to sign him ahead of other top clubs this summer.

He will spend this season out on loan before returning to fight for a place in their squad next term.

Ahanor is capable of featuring at left-back or centre-back.

He played as a left-sided centre-back for most of his season with Atalanta, including in their Europa Champions League clash against Chelsea in December 2025.

He will likely be brought in to compete with Levi Colwill for game time. Benoit Badiashile failed to dislodge him from the team.

Ahanor will follow Marco Palestra in swapping Bergamo for London this summer, highlighting the good relationship between the two clubs.
