Chelsea ‘agree deal’ for Honest Ahanor at €48m | OneFootball

Chelsea have reached an agreement to sign Honest Ahanor from Atalanta in a package worth about €48m including add-ons.

Fabrizio Romano, Sportitalia and Sky Sport Italia reported the clubs shook hands today and are finalising the bonus structure.

The 18-year-old made his senior Italy debut in June. He joined Atalanta last summer from Genoa for €16m plus up to €6m in add-ons, with a 5% sell-on clause.

Tuttomercatoweb claims he will not play for Chelsea this season, with the club inclined to loan him out for regular minutes. A Premier League stint, potentially at Brighton and Hove Albion, has been floated.

Primarily a central defender, Ahanor can also operate at left-back or further forward on the left. He has 28 Serie A appearances, nine in the Champions League and four in the Coppa Italia.

He would be Chelsea’s second major arrival from Atalanta this season after Marco Palestra.
