In a recent report, Goal.com mentioned that Chelsea are keen on recruiting Nottingham Forest defender Murillo. It has been stated that the Blues would have to compete with Manchester United in the race to sign the Brazilian talent next summer.

Murillo is having another solid campaign at the Midlands club as he has managed to produce a string of impressive displays for them on the defensive end of the field. The 23-year-old has scored two goals in 26 matches for Nottingham this season in various competitions.

The Brazilian sensation is currently among the best centre-backs in English football. Therefore, Chelsea would do well to win the race for his services next summer.

His current contract at the City Ground will expire in the summer of 2029, which could make it tough for the Blues to snap him up on the cheap later this year.

What Will Murillo Add To Chelsea Boss Liam Rosenior’s Side?

Murillo is a solid tackler of the ball and can read the danger well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind clearing his lines when required and is a good passer of the ball as well. Murillo can even use his strong 1.80m frame to make a few important last-gasp blocks on the defensive end of the field.

The Brazilian talent is already quite familiar with the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at Chelsea. Hence, it makes sense for the Blues to go all out to bring him to Stamford Bridge at the end of this season.

We can expect Murillo to add more bite and steel to Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior’s defence. He has what it takes to fight for a regular first-team spot at Stamford Bridge in the coming years.

At 23, Murillo has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a worthy target for the West London club to pursue this summer. He might even help the Blues compete for some major honours over the next few years. All in all, Rosenior would be wise to get a deal over the line for Murillo next summer.
