The 19-year-old attacking midfielder is a product of the world-renowned Cobham academy, and has represented England at three different youth levels, but looks set to take the next steps of his footballing career away from West London.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano via X, Championship side Ipswich have agreed an initial loan deal with an option to buy with Chelsea for Runham, who will become their first signing of the winter transfer window.

Kieran McKenna's side are in pursuit of an instant return to the Premier League after their relegation last season, and believe the midfielder can be a huge part of the project going forward.

Whilst his experience in senior football is minimal, he will arrive at Portman Road with an excellent pedigree, and he will look to make a break into the first team sooner rather than later.

You would be forgiven for not knowing much at all about Runham if you're not a Chelsea supporter, or follow academy football, as the teenager is yet to make his senior debut.

Despite this, Runham has caught the eye over the years in the Cobham academy, and is now set to seal a move away from the club this January, according to reports from Romano.

Ipswich have reportedly agreed an initial loan deal with the Premier League powerhouse for the attacking-minded midfield player, with an obligation to buy him at the end of the loan if they desire.

However, if this does come to fruition, Chelsea will have a buy-back clause available to them, should they wish to bring Runham back to Stamford Bridge, if he becomes a success with the Tractor Boys.

Further reports from journalist Ben Jacobs via X have also revealed that Runham will link up with John McGreal's Premier League 2 side in Suffolk, and won't be thrust into the first team right away.

As mentioned, Runham isn't exactly a household name in football just yet, although Ipswich fans will hope that will become the case when he swaps the blue of Chelsea for the blue of the Tractor Boys.

Despite having no experience in senior football, the midfielder is a hugely exciting talent at academy level, and will thrive in McGreal's Premier League 2 side, as he looks to develop into a first team player for Town.

He also boasts plenty of experience on the international stage, having represented England at Under-15, Under-16 and Under-18 level. All in all, this has the makings of an exciting signing for the future.
