A busy week in west London as Blues continue to reshape Xabi Alonso’s squad

Chelsea have confirmed Filip Jorgensen's loan move to sister club Strasbourg, as they prepare to welcome Pep Chavarria as their ninth summer signing.

Goalkeeper Jorgensen had been keen to leave Chelsea this summer after being restricted to just 36 appearances in the two years since arriving.

A club statement read: “Jorgensen was a key member of the Chelsea side that lifted the UEFA Conference League in May 2025, starting all but one game in the competition. The Denmark international became a Club World Cup winner later that summer.

“Jorgensen featured 12 times last season across four different competitions, playing his part as we reached the semi-finals of both domestic cups.

“We look forward to supporting Filip throughout his time in France.”

Jorgensen will spend the season on loan in Ligue 1, and a number of other players are likely to follow him through the exit door.

Following the departures of Andrey Santos, Alejandro Garnacho, Tyrique George and Trevoh Chalobah, the likes of Pedro Neto, Malo Gusto, Josh Acheampong, Liam Delap, Nicolas Jackson, Axel Disasi, Benoit Badiashile and Marc Guiu.

As Jorgensen leaves, Chelsea are preparing for Chavarria to arrive.

The Blues have been in talks with LaLiga oufit Rayo Vallecano over a deal for the left-back for a number of weeks as two clubs struggled to agree a financial package.

But a breakthrough in negotiations was made last week, with a deal worth an initial £16.2m plus a further £1.7m in add-ons agreed.

A medical is said to have been booked as the Blues prepare to welcome the latest addition to Xabi Alonso’s squad.

Chavarria will compete with Jorrel Hato for a starting spot, following Marc Cucurella’s exit, with new right-back Marco Palestra on the opposite flank.
