Strasbourg have signed Danish goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen on a season-long loan from Chelsea, with coach Hugo Oliveira's intervention decisive.

The 24-year-old, a near €25m signing by Chelsea two years ago, never established himself and now faces competition from Robert Sanchez and Mike Penders for 2026-2027. According to L'Équipe, Strasbourg pursued a new number one and secured the loan after hard bargaining.

Jorgensen has been in Alsace since last Thursday but administrative issues delayed completion. His recruitment was made official on Tuesday morning.

He can play the final friendly against Newcastle on Saturday, before Ligue 1 begins for Strasbourg on Friday 21 August in Marseille.

At RCSA, the Dane, born in Sweden, joins other Nordics, Sebastian Nanasi, Lucas Högsberg, Benjamin Brantlind and Genesis Antwi. Antwi is also on loan from Chelsea, which now has only one remaining option for a temporary move to its French sister club.
