Chelsea FC have enquired over a potential deal to sign Bayern Munich striker Mathys Tel (19), according to Fabrizio Romano. It has been reported that the French forward could be the subject of a swap deal with Chelsea striker Christopher Nkunku (27) going to Bayern Munich and thus returning to Bundesliga where he shone with RB Leipzig. The Italian reporter understands that Chelsea’s contacts with Bayern Munich regarding Tel are at an early stage as the Blues intend to be informed of the player’s situation.

The former Stade Rennais Academy graduate has found game time limited under the tutelage of Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany as Die Rekordmeister remain packed with options upfront such as Harry Kane, Michael Olise, Leroy Sané, Serge Gnabry or Thomas Müller. Tel featured twelve times in all competitions for Bayern so far this campaign without registering a single goal contribution.

The Athletic adds that Chelsea’s interest in Tel is long-standing and pre-dates this transfer window.
