In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey revealed that Chelsea have set their sights on Genk playmaker Konstantinos Karetsas. It has been stated that the Blues are eyeing a move to bring the Greek talent to Stamford Bridge next year.
The 18-year-old has come through the youth ranks of Genk and has already established himself as an important presence in their senior team. Karetsas has found the back of the net on two occasions and earned ten assists in 27 appearances for the Belgian outfit this season on all fronts.
The Greek talent is currently among the best young playmakers in Belgian football. Thus, it is no surprise that Chelsea are hoping to get him on board next year.
His current contract at Genk will expire in the summer of 2029, which could make it difficult for the Blues to sign him on the cheap this January or at the end of this season.

Karetsas is proficient at finding a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He has got the eye to play some killer passes in the final third and is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet.
The Greek talent mainly operates in the number ten position but can also function as a right-sided wide player if asked to do so by his manager. However, there are some concerns over whether he can cope with the physical side and high intensity of the Premier League if the Blues manage to bring him on board next year.
We can expect Karestas to enhance the quality of Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca’s attack in the long run. He is more than capable of securing a regular first-team spot at Stamford Bridge.
At 18, Karestas has got the potential to be a future star in English football as long as he continues to improve with each season. Thus, it makes sense for Maresca to go for a player of his ceiling next year. However, the Blues would have to be patient with his development before they can unlock the best out of the player.
