Chelsea are taking on PSG in an hour in the Champions League, and someone who is likely to be pretty disappointed right now is Andrey Santos.

After a slow start to the season after finally coming to join his parent club, the Brazilian was brought into the team under Liam Rosenior and looked to have really cemented a first team place.

His usage alongside Moises Caicedo in midfield allowed Enzo Fernandez to push further forward. Cole Palmer moved to the right. It cost the team a winger, but gave them a more solid base.

Chelsea will still need Santos impact

But after a mistake against Arsenal, he was out of the starting lineup in the Premier League for the first time in a while when we faced Aston Villa last week. He started against Wrexham, but that just increased the feeling he might not start in this massive game tonight.

And indeed, when the teams came out, he was on the bench.

That will be a blow to him – although there’s still a great chance he can make a difference off the bench. Whether we’re winning or losing, we’d imagine it’s almost certain the 21 year old gets on to face an opponent he knows pretty well.

Just because he’s lost his starting place doesn’t mean he’s lost Rosenior’s trust entirely. Even tonight we could see him do something special.
