Chelsea winger Ryan Kavuma-McQueen joins Portsmouth on season-long loan | OneFootball

Portsmouth have completed the loan signing of Chelsea youngster Ryan Kavuma-McQueen.

The 17-year-old winger is set to spend the 2026-27 season on loan in the Championship for his first taste of senior football.

Kavuma-McQueen is one of the crown jewels of the Chelsea youth system, having torn through youth team games across multiple levels.

He largely featured for the Under-21s in the Premier League 2 last season, recording five goals and three assists in 14 appearances.

The left-footed winger also scored four goals in eight appearances for the U18 and U19 teams last season.

Portsmouth manager John Mousinho told BBC Radio Solent: “We’ve been in the market for wingers for quite a while and Ryan ticks all the boxes of the profile of player that we want to bring in,”

“He’s quick, direct, can play off both sides and he’s only 17 so that probably tells you how highly we rate him and how highly Chelsea rate him.

“We’ve tracked him throughout his youth career and he made the step up last year into the 21s side so we’re really excited to get him through the door.

“I think he’s going to fit the way that we want to play really well and we’re really pleased to get this one done.”

Kavuma-McQueen made his senior debut for Chelsea in their FA Cup win over Port Vale in April.

He also made one appearance for the Blues during their tour of Asia this summer, while his loan move was in the works.

Chelsea have opted to send the highly-rated youngster to the Championship for his first taste of senior football.
