Chelsea goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina (22) could join RC Strasbourg Alsace this summer, according to a report from L’Équipe

With Mike Penders returning to Chelsea following a successful stint on loan in Alsace, Le Racing are in the market for a new No.1. Slonina could inherit the jersey. L’Équipe understands that the USMNT goalkeeper is already in France to undergo a trial that could last several weeks.

Slonina’s footwork to be evaluated by RCSA

Should he pass the trial, Slonina, who has previously spent time on loan at Eupen and at Barnsley, could join on a permanent deal or on loan.

Slonina’s footwork will be closely evaluated, given that Hugo Oliveira has stated that, in his system, goalkeepers are used as an 11th outfield player. Should Slonina fail to convince, there is also the possibility of Filip Jorgensen (24) arriving at the Meinau this summer. Like Slonina, Chelsea are pushing him towards the exit door.
