Chloé N'Gazi meets former club OM with Montpellier at the Orange Vélodrome on Saturday at 18:30, only weeks after leaving Marseille following the loss of her starting spot. A major celebration is planned at the stadium.

On 21 February the Algeria goalkeeper announced her departure on Instagram, alluding to hidden but damaging mechanics in football. According to L'Équipe, several OM sources believe her remarks targeted the sporting hierarchy, notably sporting director Antoine Ferreira, and say she paid for her closeness to former coach Frédéric Gonçalves, dismissed before the season after a fight in Spain during pre-season.

N'Gazi joined OM in January 2025 when the team were in the second tier. This season she played four matches, the opening league game at Lyon, 1-3, then three League Cup ties, the last at OL Lyonnes on 24 January, a 1-5 defeat in the round of 16.

OM’s line has been sporting policy. In the winter window the club opposed a move to Saudi Arabia and signed Marie-Morgane Sieber to cover any injury to Italo-Canadian Margot Shore and the CAN call-up N'Gazi was due to receive, later postponed to next summer. The situation was presented as competition between three high-level goalkeepers.

Via her entourage, N'Gazi declined to comment further, focusing on keeping Montpellier up, with the club bottom of the table. Montpellier confirmed a deal to the end of the season the day after her message. In her post she thanked team-mates and backroom staff but not the hierarchy nor head coach Corinne Diacre, adding that one chapter ends and her story continues.
