Chris Smalling poised to sign for Porto on one-season deal with option

Chris Smalling is close to joining Porto on a one-season deal with an option for a further year, according to O Jogo.

The 36-year-old England international is currently without a club, which allows him to sign at this stage.

He is understood to be in Porto to undergo a medical and finalise the agreement.

Smalling spent the past two seasons with Al Fayha in Saudi Arabia.

Before that he had nine years at Manchester United and five at Roma, with earlier spells at Fulham and Maidstone United.

He has 31 senior caps for England and has scored one goal.
