Chris Smalling set to strengthen FC Porto's defence | OneFootball

FC Porto have secured a late addition to their defence with free agent, Chris Smalling currently in Portugal to sign for the Dragons.

Our sister site zerozero has confirmed the report first broken by Portuguese outlet MaisFutebol about the former England international's arrive.

Smalling had a famous career trajectory having been plucked out of the National League by Fulham before going onto to play nine seasons for Manchester United before joining AS Roma, initially on loan, early in the 2019/20 season.

After five seasons in the Italian capital, Smalling made the jump to sign for Saudi Arabian side Al-Fayha who he left last season after 67 games for the club, chipping in with four goals from defence.

Porto are currently top of the Primeira Liga, having won all seven of their opening games while conceding just three goals in that time.
