Ipswich Town 1-1 Preston North End at Portman Road, Jack Clarke's penalty in second half stoppage time earning a point and dropping the hosts to fourth while Preston rose to eighth in the Championship.

Lewis Gibson struck in the 72nd minute, turning in from close range after a corner to put the visitors ahead.

Christian Walton had earlier kept the Tractor Boys in it with smart stops from Benjamin Whiteman and Jordan Thompson, as Preston carved out opportunities on the break.

After half-time changes, the Tractor Boys upped the pressure. Chuba Akpom's close-range header drew a fine save from David Cornell (79.).

Pol Valentín fouled Clarke to concede a late penalty. Clarke converted from the spot in the second minute of second half stoppage time.

Ipswich dominated the ball with 67.2% possession, tallying 16 attempts and nine corners. Preston made 50 clearances and recorded 11 attempts. Clarke is now on 12 league goals, second in the Championship scoring chart.
