According to L'Équipe, Claude Le Roy, 78, is set to return as Congo coach five years after his last job, with former Sochaux and Amiens boss Omar Daf alongside him.
He will be appointed through to the next Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled for summer 2027 in Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda.
The pair will aim to qualify Congo for their first finals since 2015, when Le Roy led the team to the quarter-finals.
Nicknamed the Sorcier blanc, he is taking on a ninth job with an African national side, after Cameroon (1985-1988 and 1998), Senegal (1988-1992), Ghana (2006-2008), DR Congo (2004-2006 and 2011-2013), Congo (2013-2015) and Togo (2016-2021).
Congo are in group G of qualifying with Cameroon, Comoros and Namibia, and the top two will progress.
