Claude Puel says Dante’s return depends on his body

Claude Puel says Dante’s comeback date remains unclear, though the defender is making progress, as Nice prepare for Saturday’s trip to Toulouse.

According to L'Équipe, the Nice head coach added that he could not say when the Brazilian will rejoin the group, noting he has not played since 27 November because of problems in both knees.

Nice are expected to have a slightly deeper squad with Abdi, Jansson and Bernardeau in line to return.

Sofiane Diop, who hurt his Achilles tendon last weekend, remains a doubt, with Puel saying they would review his situation, and others, tomorrow.

Puel said Dante is steadily stepping up and passing stages each day, but only his body will determine when he can train consistently, regain rhythm and be competitive again.
