Club América wasted no time as they secured Liguilla qualification with a huge 5-0 rout of lowly Veracruz on Friday night.
Bruno Valdez, Nico Castillo, and Henry MartĂn all scored within a nine-minute span to put AmĂ©rica up 3-0 within the first half-hour before MartĂn completed his hat-trick in the second half to round out the scoring.
América controlled the match from start-to-finish and went ahead in the 19th minute thanks to a gift from goalkeeper Sebastián Jurado.
From a corner, Jurado fumbled the ball, allowing Valdez to finish in front of an open goal.
AmĂ©rica doubled their lead through Castillo just four minutes later as he and MartĂn completed a spectacular piece of interplay on the counter-attack.
MartĂn would add the third in the 28th minute, dribbling through the Veracruz defence and getting a fortunate bounce through a bit of unlikely poor goalkeeping from the otherwise strong Jurado.
After the break, AmĂ©rica piled on the pressure and found their fourth goal of the night as another error allowed MartĂn to complete his brace.
The game was already in hand but AmĂ©rica stayed on the attack and let MartĂn finish off his hat-trick in some style to give his side all three points.
América are temporarily in second place on 31 points while most teams in Liga MX still have a pair of matches in hand.
