Club América have signed Santiago Ramos Mingo on deadline day, moving to replace Sebastián Cáceres after his sale to Celta de Vigo in Spain.

The 24-year-old Argentine centre-back arrives from Bahia in Brazil's Serie A. According to Americayya.net, the deal is for four years and América have paid 10 million dollars, with achievable bonuses attached.

Mingo was an undisputed starter at Bahia, making 88 appearances and scoring 15 goals, an eye-catching return for a centre-back.

He is strong inside the box and reads play well there, though perhaps his biggest weakness comes when stepping out to cover quick forwards.

He also offers progressive passing and vision that can aid América's build-up, qualities already present in Israel Reyes.

An interesting addition with a solid present and a promising future, which helps explain the outlay on the Argentine defender.
