Club Have ‘Doubts About The Wisdom’ Of Signing Leeds United Star | OneFootball

Torino are having doubts about whether it is wise to spend so much money on Leeds United goalkeeper Lucas Perri.

A deal has been in place between Torino and Leeds for some time, based on a €1m loan fee and a €14m option to buy next summer.

Torino even seemed to have seen off competition for Perri from Marseille and it looked to be just a matter of time before the goalkeeper joined.

Perri though was on the bench for Leeds’ win at Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Saturday and now there are real doubts about the deal.

According to French outlet Foot Mercato, the Serie A side ‘now have doubts about the wisdom of spending so much’ to sign Perri, while there are some lingering questions about his fitness.

Torino have not cancelled the deal or walked away from signing Perri, but they are taking their time to make absolutely sure they want to proceed.

For the Leeds goalkeeper, the situation will be less than ideal, as he seeks to make sure he has regular game time this season.

There is a possibility that Marseille could come back into the mix if Torino do not close the deal for the shot-stopper, but on what terms the cash-strapped French side might get involved is unclear.

With James Trafford having been signed by Leeds, the road to nailing down the number 1 spot at Elland Road is blocked for Perri.

To play regularly, the former Lyon man will have to leave the Whites.

Leeds will also want to know what is happening with the Brazilian soon as it affects their own plans.

If Perri does leave then Whites boss Daniel Farke will likely want to dip into the market to sign a new number 2 goalkeeper and the time to do that is running out.

Leeds saw Karl Darlow and Illan Meslier both leave earlier this summer, leaving just Alex Cairns as the only other senior goalkeeper besides Trafford and Perri.
