In recent days, reports have linked Jarell Quansah with moves to Chelsea and Arsenal, but the Gunners have been seriously interested in signing him for some time.

Quansah has established himself as one of the leading young defenders in Europe since leaving Liverpool for Bayer Leverkusen. He also earned a place in the England squad for the 2026 World Cup, with Thomas Tuchel selecting him ahead of several other highly rated options.

That decision underlined Quansah’s progress and demonstrated that he is now regarded as one of the leading English defenders on the continent. The centre-back may be open to returning to the Premier League, particularly if he is offered an important role at a major club.

Arsenal Made Quansah Offer

Arsenal attempted to bring Quansah back to England during the last transfer window. A report from Football365 claims that the Gunners submitted a bid worth £55.5 million for his signature.

Arsenal had admired the defender for a long time and believed the opportunity was right to add him to their squad. However, the transfer did not happen, and the Gunners signed Ezri Konsa instead.

Konsa has performed solidly for Arsenal and is considerably more experienced than Quansah. Nevertheless, the arrival of the former Aston Villa defender is unlikely to have ended the club’s interest in the Leverkusen player.

Competition for Defender

Arsenal and Chelsea continue to pursue Quansah, meaning the defender could have several Premier League options if he decides to leave Germany. Both clubs would see him as a long-term investment who could strengthen their defensive options.

Liverpool also retain a buy-back clause that they can activate if they decide it would be beneficial to bring Quansah back to Anfield. The Reds may therefore remain involved in the defender’s future, even if they do not immediately attempt to sign him.

For now, Quansah remains focused on his career at Leverkusen, but the interest from Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool ensures that his next move will remain a major talking point.
