Nottingham Forest’s asking price for Arnaud Kalimuendo is ‘unattainable’ for Real Betis, who are continuing to wait for a market opportunity.

The Tricky Trees are closing in on securing the signing of defender Ousmane Diomande from Sporting Lisbon, even though it was in danger of falling through at one point.

Xaver Schlager and Gustavo Sa have been the other incomings, but Forest still want to do much more in the market, which will also mean departures from the City Ground.

Elliot Anderson’s move to Manchester City has earned them £116m, but the club are eyeing further sales this summer.

Kalimuendo, who only joined the club last summer from Ligue 1 side Rennes, struggled to live up to expectations.

He scored twice in the first half of the campaign for Nottingham Forest, and was loaned out to German side Eintracht Frankfurt, where he shone.

The Bundesliga outfit had an option to buy him for around €27m, but despite his impressive performances, they were never ready to pay that amount.

Die Adler even had a contract ‘in place’ for him, but they could not agree on a fee with the Premier League side to let go of the French forward.

The ex-France Under-23 international is back at the City Ground, but the club will approve his departure if they receive a good offer for him.

According to Spanish outlet ABC, Real Betis are keen on the 24-year-old, with Nottingham Forest now asking for €35m to let him go.

That price, though, is ‘unattainable’ for Los Verdiblancos, who are waiting for a market opportunity.

The Tricky Trees want a sale or a loan with a €35m obligation to buy for Kalimuendo, who could be on his way out of the club soon.

The 24-year-old versatile forward is on a long contract at the City Ground and it remains to be seen whether he will be able to secure a move away from the club this summer.
