CNRD orders Santos to pay R$ 18,616,377.46 to Cuiabá over Joaquim deal | OneFootball

Cuiabá said in a statement that the CNRD of the CBF has ordered Santos to pay R$ 18,616,377.46, relating to the 2023 signing of Joaquim and his subsequent sale to Tigres.

The debt stems from Santos buying the defender in February 2023 and from Cuiabá’s share in the move to the Mexican club. The final instalment of the original deal fell due in January 2025, then the parties renegotiated on five new instalments, of which only the first was paid. After non-compliance, Cuiabá took the case to the chamber in May 2025.

A decision arrived after 16 months of proceedings.

Santos paid three million euros, about R$ 16.7 million at the time, for 60% of Joaquim’s economic rights. A clause added a further 10% for 750,000 euros if an appearance target was met. Joaquim played 42 times in 2023, triggering the purchase to take Santos to 70%.

In July 2024, Santos sold him to Tigres for eight million dollars. Part of the fee offset a debt owed to the Mexican club over Soteldo, while Cuiabá, still holding 30%, received a share.

Joaquim made 66 appearances and scored six goals for Santos, and remains with Tigres in the 2026 season. Santos disputes the amount and can still contest the CNRD ruling within the sporting framework.
