Real Madrid starlet Joan Martínez has signed a new contract with the club.
As much was made official by a whole host of sources across the Spanish media on Friday evening.
Youngster Joan, for his part, is of course sidelined long-term at present.
As much comes after the stopper suffered a torn ACL whilst in training during pre-season.
Prior to as much, though, the Spaniard was making a name for himself as one of the standout breakthrough talents at Valdebebas.
Despite his tender years – he only recently turned 17 – Joan did enough to secure a place in Carlo Ancelotti’s first-team setup in Madrid over the summer.
Not only that, but, amid the lack of options at the heart of defence in Real’s squad, the understanding is that the Alginet native was pushing for a permanent spot in the club’s senior setup for the season ahead.
Joan’s long-term injury setback put a stop to as much, but, evidently, faith in his talents remains high in the Spanish capital.
As per a report from transfer insider Fabrizio Romano:
‘Official, confirmed. Joan Martínez has signed [a] new deal until 2026 at Real Madrid.’
Speaking after his renewal was made official, a player widely labelled as Real Madrid’s ‘central defender of the future’ explained:
“I’m very happy and excited to renew my contract with this great club, the best in the world. Now, with more desire than ever, I’m ready for everything to come.”
