Conflicting reports emerge over Zetterer’s potential Leeds move | OneFootball

Just one year after joining Eintracht Frankfurt from Werder Bremen, Michael Zetterer could be on the move again.

According to Kicker, the 31-year-old goalkeeper is expected to make the switch to Leeds United before the transfer window closes, with a €5 million transfer fee being discussed.

Interestingly, Zetterer’s agent, Nico Pellatz, played down speculation over a move to Leeds for his client in an interview with Bild on Friday.

“We are very surprised by reports that Michael Zetterer is supposedly close to a move. They are not true. Michael and his family feel very comfortable in Frankfurt. A move is currently not an option for him,” he said.

Sky Germany also paints a different picture. The broadcaster reports that Zetterer’s salary could be a stumbling block to the deal, while adding that the goalkeeper himself is not pushing for a move and would prefer to remain in Frankfurt and compete for the No. 1 spot unless the situation changes significantly.

Kicker, meanwhile, believes it would be surprising to see Zetterer remain at Eintracht Frankfurt beyond the end of the transfer window given recent developments.

According to the German outlet, the goalkeeper travelled to Leeds at the weekend and can now envisage a move to the club managed by fellow German Daniel Farke.

Zetterer would apparently be willing to accept a back-up role behind James Trafford at Elland Road. According to Kicker, it remains unclear whether current No. 2 Lucas Perri must leave Leeds before Zetterer can arrive, or whether the German's move must be completed first before Perri is allowed to depart.

The 31-year-old's move to England could be part of a goalkeeping reshuffle at Eintracht Frankfurt, who are reportedly looking to bring in Noah Atubolu as their new first-choice goalkeeper. What would happen to current No. 1 Kaua Santos in that scenario is unclear.
