Conflicting accounts have emerged over Zetterer’s possible move to Leeds, with Kicker reporting the Eintracht Frankfurt goalkeeper is expected to join before the window shuts, a fee of around five million euros under discussion one year after his arrival from Werder Bremen.

Sky Germany says the 31-year-old’s salary could hinder any deal, and that he is not pushing to leave, preferring to stay in Frankfurt and fight to be first choice unless the situation changes.

“We are very surprised by reports that Michael Zetterer is supposedly close to a move. They are not true. Michael and his family feel very comfortable in Frankfurt. A move is currently not an option for him,” he said. He told Bild on Friday.

Kicker also reports the goalkeeper travelled to Leeds at the weekend and can now envisage a move to Daniel Farke’s side. He would accept a back-up role behind James Trafford, and it remains unclear whether Lucas Perri must leave before Zetterer arrives or vice versa.

Kicker believes it would be surprising if Zetterer stayed beyond the deadline given recent developments. His possible switch could form part of a goalkeeping reshuffle at Frankfurt, who are reportedly targeting Noah Atubolu, with Kaua Santos’s role uncertain.
